Ostmodern is Jody Allen and Tim Bleasdale. We are based in London.
We formed our company recently after working together as freelancers on several projects for a year or so. We met, and continue to work together, because we share similar visions of what makes good design.
Our passion and central discipline is new media, but we're not exclusively new media thinkers. We feel it's important to take inspiration and influence from lots of other design disciplines. Tim, for example has a backround in graphic and fashion design while Jody's background is in product and industrial design.
As Ostmodern, we focus on the process of conceptualising and developing considered user experiences. We then produce design and interaction languages to support these concepts which take the form of destinations, campaigns or strategies. Through design, we build on existing new media conventions, aiming to challenge and innovate without sacrificing accepted functionality and usability.
Together we conceptualised and realised the design of 4oD (Channel 4's video on demand service). This was our first project together and we are proud of it. -No doubt there will be a blog entry or two about that project as we go.
At the moment, we're really busy working with the BBC and Channel 4 on a couple of projects that we can't reveal a great deal about just yet. -Watch this space over the next couple of months though, we'll be showing off some work we are equally very proud of and we'd value your comments or thoughts.
In the meantime though, if you fancy a chat, please get in touch. It would be lovely to hear from you.
